How to alter match rating points? Can anyone make a mod?

Recommended Posts

Hey there,

I play the game on extended highlights, so most of substitutions I base off of their match rating. Currently, match ratings don't feel very satistying and don't give me the information I need.

A 6.3 average is really bad, and a 7.2 average is super good. I would rather see a 3 for a bad performing player, and a 9 for whoever is killing it (which for now is only obtainable if someone scores a hattrick, so strikers).

I tried looking in the game folder but I have no clue where to go to alter how much a key pass is valued, or a goal, or a loss of possession.

Can anyone point me in the right direction? I would like to try if I can make a better match rating system.

Thanks!

6.7 is ok
7.2 is very good
6.2 is time for bench

Don't give so much attention to ratings IMHO, let's say your AMR Winger (or the person which take a corner) deliver the ball into DC header and score. Your taker will take higher than 6.7 rating, but rest game time produce nothing. Or let's say your DC doing a bad tackle at the start of the game will be rated lower than 6.7, from that point will be a little harder to "recover" from his mistake; but rest game time plays fine.

The weighting for ratings is hidden and encrypted (like physics-constrain, training etc).

Your insight is quite shortsighted, specific and very much against what FM has been and has become. Why not consider the reasons why he may have bad rating e.g. in the right position, playing to his strengths, another playing attempting the same role?

Why would you want to change the ratings to such extremes when a player may be just short of playing well, just above what is expected. Your proposed changes would make the match rating system incorrect and flawed and quite frankly a joke

"Making a mod to change match ratings" Good Luck with that. It will be a shed load of complicated code taking a large amount of data and processing to determine, you wont find that in a folder and your suggestion that one exists really suggests you would be out of your depth if one did

I would spend so time thinking about what you want and putting forward a case in the future improvements section. As your suggestion stands at the moment Im afraid it just wont happen

Further more it would likely be very much against what FM gamers would want to see, even if it would be fun for you

This is a fundamental problem of rating anything out of 10, in which anything under 6 is considered trash. Pick any film review, gaming magazine or indeed sports paper and this always happens.

I do think the match rating can be a bit of a mystery though, it can be hard to know why a player has a 6.2, even if you look at the in-game stats.

Match ratings seem a bit off to me. I regularly get strikers getting over 7 despite missing 3 or 4 one on ones and defenders getting over 7 when their mistakes lead to me losing the game. I wonder if I’m there is too much weighting towards successful passes that lead to the high rating.

I've seen a few instances of it being questionable myself, but if you find any that are obviously wrong, then please post it in the bug tracker. SI always need examples to tweak things like match rating.

If you judge ST from goals, then I am suggest to re-theorize what ST can do in modern football. It's not just scoring and get high rating.

I think the decimal should go for individual matches - single digits like the old FMs. It’s much more impactful having single digits and it’ll be less subjective and easier to code.

Just keep the decimal for averages over multiple games.
