du Garbandier (Inactive)
I'm wondering: what is people's experiences regarding unsuccessful applications. I'm thinking particularly of jobs you fancy, and which you might get later in your career if not now. I can't remember a time when, having applied, been interviewed, and then rejected, that a subsequent opportunity at the same club had a different outcome. Example: I'm currently at Newcastle, just starting second full season, having started in November, so a year and a half behind me. We've qualified for the Champions cup, and for other reasons I'm in no rush to move on, although the poor youth recruitment seems to be chronic. Anyway, the Barcelona job came up; I applied, was the fan's choice, and got the interview, but they went with someone else. Question: as I fancy that job one day, would it be better to stay out of it for now, and wait for a future opportunity? Spoiler alert: I didn't get the job. As an aside, I've noticed that FM seems to have the big clubs go for someone in their 50s or 60s, which seems less like real life than it used to. kingjericho (Inactive)
I don't think that has an effect at all. If your reputation increases during 2 or 3 seasons when you apply again for the same job the club's reaction will be different
