How to Take Control of AI Teams to Register Players

I am playing FM 21 in the Thai League system. In my seventh season suddenly all of the AI teams failed to register the bulk of their players before the squad registration deadline. I have tried reloading the save several times, going back to previous auto saves etc, but to no avail. 

I see in the in-game editor that there is an option to "allow registration at any time". My thought is that if I could temporarily assume the duties of the AI managers I could manually register their players then get on with the season, but I am not sure of a way that this may be possible. 

It hurts because in this save I have guided the Thailand U-23 team to the finals of the Asian Games and I am on the cusp of winning my first international tournament in all my years of playing FM. Any suggestions or creative / gamey methods that you can think of to resolve this AI registration issue would be greatly appreciated.

Answering my own question, in case it is of use to anyone who stumbles upon this in the future:

If you purchase FMRTE , you can manually register players (From the player menu , select "Relations" then "Squad Registration" then input the name of the team. You must first enable Allow Registration at Any Time from the in game editor. It is laborious, but it ought to preserve your save.

I have only played fm22, but in that game you can create a manager for any team at any time. You can create a manager to take over the team, do what you need to do and then resign that manager.
