You reloaded until you got a good cup draw. I stopped reading at that point.

I do agree that SI could have more guidance on what it means to set up a defensive tactic though.
SI is 'From Software' and you want them to be 'Ubisoft', that's what it boils down to.
If you know, you know...

My team clearly has a strong defensive unit hence why only 2 conceded in 13 games before this match. SI either fix it or give us better instructions.
Or maybe take some responsibility yourself? You change your entire formation to play away at one of the top 2 teams in the league, and are surprised you lost? Yeah, losing 7-0 is sore, but their morale would have been sky high scoring three in the first half hour, and it appears your team just collapsed. It happens in the game, it happens in real life. Take it on the chin, learn from it, move on.

Player interactions are the worst aspect of the game.
Pretty sure real life managers find them a pain in the backside too, especially with all the pampered, entitled footballers there are nowadays.

FM isn’t perfect. There was a very embarrassing example posted a couple of years ago when a player put two youth keepers as strikers in the Liverpool first team for an entire season. One of them ended up being one of the top scorers in the league.
Unrealistic input = Unrealistic output, the basic tenet of any code.

Here's my Arsenal save. I've restarted and replayed the match with Brentford especially for more than a dozen times
THIS is where you're going wrong. Replaying the same game over and over only leads to madness, and it's all utterly pointless.

I reckon you'd only be able to get away with answers like that if you were applying for a job well below your current rep, perhaps after you've won everything, and you're looking to rebuild a smaller club.

Junior coaching is another big factor in the quality of newgens produced. As @Junkhead says above, the players in the intake have been at the club for some time, so the quality of junior coaching is vital in their development between them first coming to the club at age 10/11 or whatever and appearing in your intake at age 15/16.

FM17 was the best looking 3D engine, no doubt about it, but for the actual match engine itself (ie what goes on under the hood), then I think FM21 is the best. the engine has taken a step backwards this year, unfortunately.
Back on the topic of FM17 though, I just wish SI would improve the lighting and pitch textures back to what it was in that game. The whole thing just looked so much better, which adds to the immersion. For a 5 year old version of the game to look better than the current one is pretty unforgiveable, even if the current one has the better actual engine.

There are never patches for Football Manager, only updates. You must know this by now

I really wish they'd sort out the player role promise interaction.
I've just had two first team players hand in transfer requests because I didn't play them in their preferred role, even though both have played most of the season in the same position but a slightly different role. These promises are too binary. There needs to be an interaction where a player will accept that although the promise wasn't kept, they are satisfied with the game time they've had.
With the first player, I told him he'd enjoyed playing in a different role and had success there, and his response was 'I'm sick of your excuses, I want to leave' - Nonsense. I'm now losing a key player due to this. Yes, you could argue I shouldn't have made the promise, but it was locked in during contract negotiations. In the real world, that really wouldn't have been that big an issue.

Keepers making more saves getting higher ratings shock.

Hi all!
Weird question, I've taken Carlisle from League 2 to the Premier League in 3 seasons. By some miracle I was given a half decent transfer and wage budget but I'm finding that just before the premier league season is due to start (days away from first match) I'm having a couple of issues
Scout reports on signings and coach reports on my players still relate to championship level ability rather than premier league.
I'm getting massive wage demands from potential signings, players on less than £10K a week wanting for example north of £30K. Is this normal or is there a glitch following promotion?
Keen to know what everyone else is finding as I have championship teams beating me to signings even though I'm in the prem.
Thanks allYou've shot up the leagues far quicker that what would be realistic, therefore your clubs reputation is still trying to catch up. Until that rep matches where you are, it will be a struggle signing top players. Also, because you're in the cash rich PL, players will start demanding much higher wages than before. It's the curse of bombing up the leagues unrealistically with a really small team.

Its certainly nowhere near as bad as people say on here.
It never, ever is.

Comprehensive or extended while I'm trying to get a tactic to work. Once I'm comfortable with it, usually key highlights thereafter, but will switch up for bigger games, or if things are starting to go pear shaped.

Anyone's elses game slowed down since the update? Saving is slower, processing is slower, and it's not as slick from screen to screen. Thought it might have been a skin issue, but went back to default and it's just the same.

I would guess that's because the beta was ahead of the main game and you were trying to go backwards on the game versions, which won't work for compatibility reasons. Now though the main game is ahead of the beta so the game version is going forwards and so it works.
Aye, that makes sense. Not going anywhere near the public beta again now

right now the public beta is behind, but if u opt out of the beta u will get the update from the main branch and will be able to continue any save i had in the public beta branch .. i did exactly that and am playing with the last update from today
If I revert back to the non-beta version, my save is no longer there.
EDIT - Actually no, it's worked now - How weird, last time I tried to go from beta to main release, my save game was gone.

Yes I checked now and it wasn't it just takes you back to the previous version
Its my own fault for saving my main game in the public beta version, as I can't play that save now on the main version. Which has been updated.
TL:DR - I'm a tube.

There was a public better update as well
Not at my end there hasn't been.

Any idea if/when the public beta version of the game will be updated? I'm still on 22.1 with the 22.2 ME.

What bothers me is that once again Man Utd players are hugely overrated. I almost choked when I saw McTominays stats.
If he was called Tominaldo, you'd be calling him underrated.

The colt teams aren't allowed to play in the Scottish Cup, so that's definitely a bug unless you're maybe using an edited database?

The 22-23 season is always a bit off due to the Qatar World Cup in November.
