That’s a healthy level of German players in your first team. Are many from Berlin?

I thought the level for Technique was 12. Is it 10?

Your keeper is getting closer to the DNA levels. Still haven’t got one in your game that’s good enough with those DNA levels then (or at least one that’s available)? I think you mentioned previously that your keeper is pretty good

Hah! Yes, I'm an idiot. thankfully, Vasi is signed until the end of his career and San Miguel is unhappy, so he'll be sold soon! :D

    To answer your first question...

Welcome to a one-off segment, where I see just how far each one of my first XI have come to our little corner of Berlin!

    139d0209376b27d3d808d52eca9955b5.png

Let's begin! (All distances by car on Google Maps)

    • GK Aaron Wilske (academy product) - Birthplace: Berg (Schussental); Distance from Berlin?: 712km.

Wilske's journey from the borders of Switzerland was a long one, thankfully he's here

    • DR Nemanja Vasiljević (£1.5m, 1. FC Köln) - Birthplace: Seevtal; Distance from Berlin?: 306km

Vasiljević has come from the outskirts of Hamburg via it's surrounds (Paderborn and Köln) to Berlin (more than once)

    • DCR Ralf Beinlich (£2.3m, Bayer 04 Leverkusen) - Birthplace: Pulheim; Distance from Berlin?: 578km

Ralf's journey from near the Dutch border was a relatively simple one, with just us as his stop outside his birth area

    • DCL Iñigo San Miguel (free, SD Eibar) - Birthplace: Spain; Distance from Berlin?: 1,923km

San Miguel has no recorded birthplace so we judged him from his first club. From the northern coast of Spain, through France, into Germany, a long trek for the kid.

    • DL Romeo Sangaré (£250k, Viktoria Köln ) - Birthplace: München; Distance from Berlin?: 589km

Romeo was released by his hometown club and was picked up by a Köln club, before heading to us.

    • DMCR Özcan Öcal (academy product) - Birthplace: Kars, TurkeyDistance from Berlin?: 3,627km

Özcan has come a loooong way from not far from the Armenian border to Berlin. Testament to our scouting staff that we found such a player that far away so young!

    • DMCL Christian Kurz (academy product) - Birthplace: Windorf; Distance from Berlin?: 602km

Another distance academy player. Christian came from near the Austrian/Czech borders on his way up to Berlin. Bright lights, big city!

    • ML Thorsten Adamowski (free, RB Leipzig) - Birthplace: Delitzch; Distance from Berlin?: 170km

The closest one yet! Adamowski came from Leipzig's academy, so a short hop from his birthplace to Leipzig and a slightly longer one to us

    • AMRC Karl Eberhardt (academy product) - Birthplace: Gelsenkirchen; Distance from Berlin?: 520km

Karl comes from that fertile player development area of Western Germany, as we managed to get to him before Schalke 04, Borussia Dortmund, Fortuna Düsseldorf, Bayer 04 Leverkusen and 1. FC Köln!!!!

    • AMC Canarinha (£11.75m, Sao Paulo FC) - Birthplace: Sao Paulo, Brazil; Distance from Berlin?: 10,247km

Not much we can say about this. Canarinha came a quarter way round the globe to play for us. What a legend.

    • ST Torben Eglseder (£2m, RB Leipzig) - Birthplace: Husum; Distance from Berlin?: 458km

Near the Danish border, Torben came through us on his way to his first club, before coming back. Probably the first transferred player to be born outside his hometown club

Well, that was an interesting deep-dive into where my first team came from! If there is interest, I will do a Second XI one? For a bonus, I can tell you that throughout our teams, we have 19 Berlin natives.

Season 15, like the Beatles once said, we're back in the UCL. We were tasked with Finishing Mid-Table, reaching the Quarter-Final of the DfB Pokal, attempting to be competitive in the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Super Cup is just a distraction. All of this with a £5m p/w wage budget and £451m warchest.

Team on 1 July looks like this

    139d0209376b27d3d808d52eca9955b5.png

Finally, we are sorted with our DNA. Now going forward, we need to keep it at this level.

Doesn't matter, I've given up, it's literally impossible to do anything on this game anymore.

It really isn't. I've taken a 3.Liga side to Europa League champions in 14 seasons. I use a HB and a SV in the DM strata, because it means there is enough balance in the side with attack and defence.

  4. I don't like that midfield at all.

You need to think about transitions. Let's say you lose possession high up the pitch. You've lost the MEZ and CAR and their entire counter faces....a DLP on Defend in the middle.

I would look at your centre of the three being a BWM on defend and a CM on Support on the left and a CM on Attack on the right. Because then you have less forward movement in the middle and the AM is still supplying the forward lines

Now we're over 5 years into the game and this save is all about trying to get the cream of youth into the team, we'll start to look at my historical youth intakes. At the end of every season, I'll go back and look at an intake from my time here at Viktoria Berlin and see if the key prospects worked out? Or if they flamed out, never to be seen again.

So, for this edition, let's look at the Class of 2030 intake

    86ce8306200c8837f2d16df8427c2551.png

We'll concentrate on the Top 3 DNA prospects, unless there are any notable deviations. The key prospects in this intake were goalkeeper Aaron Wilske, attacking midfielder Özcan Öcal and striker Momčilo Radosavljević

    Aaron Wilske

Then. 15 years old, FC Viktoria 1899 Berlin

Now. 20 years old, FC Viktoria 1899 Berlin

Aaron was a member of our goalie conveyor belt and I had high hopes for him to sit behind Mikki van Sas for years to develop. In his time at the club, he has made 90 appearances in all competitions, keeping 38 clean sheets for an average rating of 7.07. During this time, he spent the 2031/32 season on  loan at KFC Uerdingen 05 making 33 appearances and keeping 8 clean sheets for an average rating of 6.92.

Aaron has also made 18 appearances for Germany's U-21 side. In terms of silverware, he has a DfB Pokal & UEFA Europa League winners medal and was ranked #1 in the 2034 NxGen Awards.

    Özcan Öcal

Then. 15 years old, FC Viktoria 1899 Berlin

Now. 20 years old, FC Viktoria 1899 Berlin

Özcan came into the acadamy as an attacking midfielder, but we wanted him to be a Segundo Volante, so put him into training for that role. So far, he's made 62 appearances in all competitions for the club, scoring 7 goals and assisting 6 times for an average rating of 7.02. He also spent the 2031/32 season on loan at KFC Uerdingen 05, making 34 appearances, scoring 1 goal and assisting once for an average rating of 6.69. He then spent the 2032/33 season on loan at 2.Bundesliga side FC Ingolstadt 04, making 30 appearances, scoring 1 goal and making 6 assists, for an average rating of 6.91

Özcan has also made one appearance for Turkey. In terms of silverware, he has a DfB Pokal & UEFA Europa League winners medal.

    Momčilo Radosavljević

Then. 15 years old, FC Viktoria 1899 Berlin

Now. 20 years old, FC Viktoria 1899 Berlin

Momčilo came in as a striker, but we saw his potential to sit in the hole in the AM strata. In his time at the club, he has made 16 appearances in all competitions, scoring 2 goals and assisting once for an average rating of 6.97. During this time, he spent both the 2031/32 & 2032/33 seasons on  loan at KFC Uerdingen 05 making 55 appearances, scoring 32 goals and assisting 15 times for an average rating of 7.47.

Momčilo has also made appearances for Germany's U-23 side. In terms of silverware, he has a  UEFA Europa League winners medal.

We also have a non-Top 3 prospect making waves in the first team, our first one.

    Cedric Hummels

Now. 20 years old, FC Viktoria 1899 Berlin

Cedric has blossomed in the academy. In his time at the club, he has made 39 appearances in all competitions, scoring goals for an average rating of 7.02. During this time, he spent the 2033/34 season on loan at KFC Uerdingen 05 making 41 appearances, scoring 4 goals and assisting once for an average rating of 7.47.

Cedric has also made 8 appearances for Germany's U-21 side, scoring one goal. In terms of silverware, he has a  UEFA Europa League winners medal.

So glad to see you decided to carry on after having to replay Lazio game again!

Congrats on winning Europa League

Well jealous of your youth intakes :(

It feels a little cheap, but the emotions of the Liverpool game kinda erase it :D. It's taken a lot of time to get to this point!

Season 14 in the books and we again concentrated on the cups, finishing in 10th place in 1.Bundesliga, as middling as you could get. We were also poor in the DfB Pokal as we lost to 2.Bundesliga strugglers SC Preußen Münster, 1-0 in the Third Round. We had another brilliant run in the UEFA Europa League, beating Celtic FC, S.S Lazio and A.C Milan in the knockout stages, before performing a smash-and-grab raid to beat Liverpool FC on penalties in the Final after a 2-2 draw took us to extra time and penalties. We stabilised at a very poor 14th in Goals Scored this season, only scoring more than the three relegated clubs again, and dropped like a stone defensively to 10th in Goals Conceded. We struggled playing the second team in the league this season again, but considering it's brought us two pieces of silverware, it'll be something I'll do next season too.

Nothing really new this season on our data. We're pretty lacking up front, but that's on me and the loss of Lyndon. We've slightly outperformed our x stats, which are a basic marker for the season in my eyes.

Urgh. Upgrading to the latest update has cocked my save and I've had to go back to before the first Lazio game. Obviously, I want to play on, but I feel like if I win, it'll be tainted. But I don't want to just throw the game. What does everyone think? Will it be bad if I play the save as normal from this point?

#48 - Bryan Sabotic, FSV Frankfurt (on loan from FC Viktoria 1899 Berlin)

Well, we've ended up with the #1 prospect in Europe again and Máté Bánki is on the list for the second season in a row, dropping from #21 to #41 in the list. Finally Bryan Sabotic makes the list, a Luxembourger in the list

So, our 2035 academy scholars came in and We're still at Exceptional Youth Coaching and Exceptional Youth Recruitment. As ever, we will sign all the youth players and work on their flaws. When it comes to professional contracts, it'll be only the DNA qualifiers that get a contract.

I think we have a good sleeper in this intake

Let's look at the top 3 DNA prospects.

    • AMRL/ST Manfred Flögel - Work Rate: 12, Pace 13, Technique: 12 - DNA: FAILED

He could be good, but he needs to work on the basics for him to last here.

    7ac874b6a48f0faf8e108843e0618773.png

    • ML Johannes Barion - Work Rate: 14, Pace 14, Technique: 14 - DNA: PASSED

He'll be a decent winger and we need left midfielders a lot.

    • WBL/DM/AMC Michael Gauner - Work Rate: 14, Pace 14, Technique: 15 - DNA: PASSED

He's not ranked as one of the elite prospects, but he'll be given every chance to become a first team player
